After moving to San Francisco and increasing his strength and awareness, Jim Jones focused on his confidence in the nuclear holocaust. He had loyal followers of over 1,000 people who gave him their savings and joined his community before moving them to Guyana. Whenever possible, the authorities drew attention to illegal activities and opened an investigation after being informed that some people were being held against their will.
